Television Advertising
As an agency we buy a lot of TV for our direct response clients, because it works!
TV advertising has become much cheaper in recent years through competition due to the huge increase in channels on digital TV.
We buy most of our TV advertising on a cost per thousand audience basis.
For example if a national daytime show on ITV1 (e.g. Jeremy Kyle) has 1 million viewers then We buy each 1000 viewers who see your commercial @ £4.00 per 1,000, a single 30 second commercial would cost £4.00 x 1,000 = £4,000 nationally.
We book TV ads on behalf of almost 20 direct response clients. All of these clients have found DAYTIME advertising much more cost effective than advertising in PEAK TIME (evening). This is because they usually have a freefone number on screen - and the general public still prefers to call finance and insurance companies during the daytime.
The cost per thousand is also generally half the peak price during daytime. The evening audiences are also much larger in the evening - so your budget would not go far at all during peak time.
There are also some great deals on smaller TERRESTRIAL CHANNELS - such as Channel 5. You could buy a NATIONAL 30" spot on Channel 5 during daytime for as little as £1,000!
Alternatively many companies choose to "dip their toes in the water" with satellite/digital channels first.
Typically a monthly budget of £20,000 will buy you approximately 500 NATIONAL daytime commercials on SKY Channels such as SKY News, SKY Sports and SKY Movies, Hallmark etc.
UKTV Channels are also a good bet (Gold, Virgin1 Watch, Alibi, Bravo, Living etc.). Here £20,000 will buy you around 600 NATIONAL daytime spots in a month.
Over the past 10 years we have spent over £50 million on TV advertising for our clients - so we know the best deals available - and our clients can get a great return on investment.
